First built computer issues

My friend and I have been building a basic computer. We just got all the purchased parts we needed in today.

We got a basic mobo with a pci-e slot, Celeron D 3.2ghz processor, 7600gt graphics card, 1gb corsair ram, 80g sata and a nice case with 500watt power supply.

We made sure all connections were connected and powered it up and nothing showed up on the monitor but the power light on the front of the pc kept blinking along with the lights on the keyboard.

We took everything apart after that and put it all back together and now when we press the power button it turns on for a second and shuts itself back off.

I have no idea what we could have done wrong.. any suggestions..?

Can you put links to the items you bought, make sure the mobo and Celeron D is compatible. The processor may have too high of a FSB for that mobo, I know thats what happened to me when I screwed up, but my computer never did the blinking lights thing so that may not be the problem, but just check into it.

My PC does that right now, I hit the power after it has been unplugged and it comes on for 2 seconds and dies, I hit it again and the same, the third time is the charm though.

make sure all connections are secure, all jumpers are in the proper position and your power supply is on 115v and not 220v.

Alright this is what has happened so far. We took everything out of it again, put it all back, didnt plug in the pci-e graphics card and just used the on board video and didnt plug in the hard drive. Everything actually turned on and suprised the hell out of us.. the cpu fan psu fan and the back fan was actually running but of course it said there was nothing to boot off of.

We turned it back off and plugged in the hard drive and graphics card and it wouldnt even turn on so we took the graphics card out and it came on again. Tried to plug the monitor in the onboard video and it says no video input.

Now we have video. It comes up with the screen that shows that windows did not shut down properly, start in:

Safe Mode
Last Known good configuration
______
Start windows normally

When we press start windows normally my monitor goes into sleep mode and the pc restarts itself

one thing, make sure your PCI-E graphics card has the power port on the card plugged in. Many PCI-E cards require a power plug coming from your power supply be plugged into the card itself. That could be your problem. Then go into your BIOS and disable integrated video. That should fix you up.
