First built computer

Ok, so I decided to scrap the idea of getting an XPS 8500 and build my own computer. With the help of my friend, I was able to gather some parts and make it for around the 1,000 range. Can you guys check it out and see if everything is compatible? Suggestions are welcome! And this computer will mainly be used for gaming such as Diablo 3 or Battlefield 3.

For gaming, drop down to the i5-3570k and save $60. HT isn't useful for games atm nor will be for quite a while. Use the $60 to upgrade GPU to a 560ti. If not Crossfiring/SLIng, get a TX550M or XFX Core550W. Ditch the RAM with the cake cutter/haircomb/toothy heatspreaders. They can obstruct installation of a CPU Cooler. Get the ASrock Extreme4 Gen3 Z77 MOBO to make full use of IB. It is around the same price.
 
drop down to a 2500k and up the graphics card to a HD6950 and you will have a great system. You will need a cooler though, but grab a hyper 212+ and your still good and less spent than the current one.
 
he means the ones that stick up. Try the Patriot Gamer 2 or Kingston Hyperx, they don't stick up above the ram module.
 
 
Everything will work fine and yeah it is necessary to buy an aftermarket cooler if you want to overclock the 2500K. FYI, the 2500K overclocks very well. :) I have mine at 4.3GHz and it's rock solid, you may be able to go up to 4.5GHz or 4.6GHz if you're careful.

I'd probably buy an aftermarket cooler anyway even if you're not going to overclock. The quad-cores run hot on the stock coolers.
 
Last question. I'm about the order the parts and was wondering how fast newegg ships their parts if I pick the cheapest speed. Thanks guys for the help!
 
3-5 days, usually, not counting weekends. Pretty fast, but might be slower if you have an entire computer being shipped.
 
For UPS 3-day, it is guaranteed 3 days from the day it is shipped, so for example; if it is shipped Monday, it will arrive Wednesday.
 
Ok so update
I have all parts and I've already built some of it. Since my optical drive and my HDD were both oem, I don't have any cables. But the motherboard did come with 2 6gb/s SATA cables, are these supposed to be used for the HDD or is it supposed to be used to someting else. And since I can't connect with ethernet, I need a wireless card so can someone recommend a wireless card that connects directly to the motherboard without any usb stick on the outside. Thanks!
