this was my first ever build that i built four days ago on three months of CF knowledge. it was so easy to do and so awesome to see everything in action and it worked pn my first boot up!! it is so fast and i OCed the CPU to 2.5 with stock cooling and stock bios. i really suggest this setup and i can guide you through everything that you do with it, because this setup is amazing!

get a sound card to go with it though, because the sound isnt that great. and upgrade the HDD to 250 and you will be set for just under 1k

trust me, its an excellent system and i can guide you though everything

and since i dont need a wireless card or the operating system i could knock off another 100 bucks off your total. could i use the cpu i picked with all the parts from your build? i am not to crazy about overclocking seeing that i dont play to many games or any video editing and such

yeah you could use that CPU. my temps are 31 idle and at 55 load. thats with stock cooling!

i can guide you through OCing it too, its a great board. and trust me, you will get into some games like i did. never played any before until a week ago with this computer

every computer ive ever owned has been an amd and i have always had luck with them. i had for a while planned on building a intel rig but seeing the new amd x2 a friend of mine got i think i want to stick to that. is there any big pros or cons either way?

The Intel Core 2 Duo series is much better than the AMD X2 series. For instance, the Intel E6600 is rougly equal to the FX-62 in performance.

would you say its twice as good seeing that i can get that amd 4200 for roughly half the price then overclock it to around 2.6 safely? and is there any pros or cons to socket 939 vs AM2?

twice as good as a Core 2 Duo? no way, but for gaming and multitasking for another year or two it will do fine.

AM2 is much much better because there are still CPUs being made for it while 939 is obsolete, so definately AM2

i have a X2 system as a 1000 dollar budget gaming computer i made in my sig and i love it. i can get to 3.0 i think with aftermarket cooling. i got it to 2.60 but then took it down for now and ran a stability test but only for 6 hours and it was fine.

you can get a good OC out of your X2 with the Biostar TForce 550 that i have in my sig.

probably 3.0ghz with aftermarket cooling at low temps too. of course that is if you do it right, and with this mobo i can guide you easily. i have this cool way of doing it.
