First Computer Build - Help on this setup

Hello everybody,

I am in the process of picking out my parts and trying to build my first computer. My budget is around $800-$1000.

So far I have put together this setup:

This system will be mainly used for gaming.
I would want it to run smoothly on the latest games on high settings if not max settings.

Any input or any flaws in this setup will be wonderful!

Components look pretty good with the exception of the case with the EarthWatts power Supply. You might consider a similar case without a PSU like the Antec 300 Illusion and buy a separate better quality PSU such as SeaSonic S12II 520, or Corsair CMPSU-500CX 500W.

Another thing I see is that the ASUS MB you've chosen is CrossFire compatible, (not SLI compatible), so you wouldn't have the option of adding a second GTX 460 in the future if you wanted to upgrade your video power. If there's a possibility that you would add a second GPU later you should consider an SLI compatible MB such as ASUS M4N98TD EVO or change your GPU choice to an ATI based chip such as an HD 5850. I would really rather see you stick with the GTX 460 though as I feel that at the $200-$250 price range that NVIDIA based GPUs can't be beat for performance.

Note that if you do want the option of adding a second GPU, (CrossFire or SLI), you would need a more powerful PSU - Something in the 750W range.

i'd just stick with the phenom ii 955 and that motherboard and go for the 460.

for ram, get a dual channel set:

with the money saved, you could consider going with an ati card and a higher watt power supply for cf in the future.
