First game of Hitman series???

Does anyone know the first game of the Hitman series it looks like a cool series, and I wouldn't mind getting into it. Am I wrong and are these games lame? In what order do the rest of the hitman games go??
 
Codename 47, Silent Assassin, Contracts, Blood Money. I think this is a correct listing. Codename 47 is the first in the series, Silent Assassin is the 2nd etc.
 
I have Codename 47, Silent Assasin and Contracts, they are all really good, ive got them on the PS2.

Im gonna be getting the new one "Blood Money" soon aswell.
 
I've played the first Hitman before. It's a good game. I like it. Get Hitman 2 though. It's better than the first one.

You can't get Codename 47 on the PS2. It was a PC release.

I have them all, Codename 47 on PC, Silent Assassin on PC, Contracts on PS2 and PC. I'm a big fan. It'd be hard to get a copy of Codename 47, cause it's quite old, and to be honest, the graphics are quite out-dated, but I still enjoy it.
 
Hitman: Codename 47, Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, Hitman 3: Contracts and the upcoming Hitman 4: Blood Money are the best games out...
PS Hitman 2: Silent Assassin is out on xbox and ps2 aswell
