First Gaming Build Help!

Quad-core isn't exactly a technology "required" to run things as compared to say 64-bit processors. While quad-core may be more "future ready", dual or tri cores should be just fine. In the end, for gaming, much of the performance is based on the video card anyway.

u sure cause people say quad core is better for future purposes!

Can't fit it within your budget. It is already slightly over CAD$ 700 with tri-core
Curently Phenom II x3 720 ($170) + Mobo ($90) = $260

If you go for Quad-core, the best one will be Phenom IIx4 955 ($220) as it is on offer

The cheapest decent quad core is Q8200 ($180) + Gigabyte GA-P43-ES3G ($90). However, since intel will have new line of CPU with new socket come out next month, it is not worth investing on LGA 775.

Have a look on this article, it's up to you to decide what to get.

basically the 785G on an am3 platform with ddr3 is better than the 770 and 790GX, the FX is a different story
