This is my first time building. Here is what I have picked out so far:

Case: Corsair Graphite Series 600T
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo)
Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V PRO
Video Card: Galaxy 67NPH6DV5ZVX GeForce GTX 670
Memory: CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB)
SSD: SAMSUNG 830 Series MZ-7PC256B/WW 2.5" 256GB
HDD: SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB
CPU Cooler: COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 EVO
PSU: CORSAIR HX Series HX750 750W
DVD Burner: ASUS
Monitor: ASUS VW246H Glossy Black 24" 2ms(GTG)
Mouse: Logitech G9x Gaming Mouse
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit - OEM
Anti-virus: Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Lifetime

My goal is to build a gaming PC that will last a while. My budget is flexible, but I don't want to spend any more than I have to. I need everything except a keyboard and speakers. Thank you anyone who takes the time to look over my list and make suggestions.

no. Actually this forum has been around longer than the .org version. They copied us. But that is not really important.

Your build looks good to me. I would get a better CPU cooler, but that is just my opinion.

Thank you for the reply.

I'm sorry for accusing you of copying the other forum. I just got a faster and more thorough response from them, and it seemed strange to me how similar the name and layout was.

You're both beating eggxpert, the newegg forum. No response from them today.

Asus is not a bad brand byte. And the fact that you think so shows that you know absolutely nothing about computers. Please do some research before you comment again.

On the first look it seems to be fine.
You could spare some money by replacing the psu with a TX650, that's far enough to power that system. Also you could go with a cheaper (but not necessarily worse) brand for the gpu, like evga, asus,...

I opted to take back my 212 and go with a Corsair H100 for a cooler. I went with 4 sticks (16GB total, this is overkill) ram, because it was so cheap . I ended up with the Gigabyte UDH5 mobo, but Asus is a good choice. I purchased the Gigabyte version of the 670 card and went with the 128GB version of the SSD, because I'm only loading my O.S. and 1 game on it. Oh and you don't need a 750 watt PSU, unless your going to be using 2 cards in the future..... Build looks solid, GL.....

The 212 evo will do more then enough, no reason to go with an expensive watercooler.

Let him spare money on the psu (like I said before), and it will be fine with a 256gb ssd. I'm already using 90gb of mine and it's very nice to run your games on it.
Wouldn't go with 2 cards (sometimes you can have some problems with it, like me) and a tx650 can power a gtx680. So it should be enough.

Says the guy who hates asrock, for the same reason asus is bad. And I have done tons of research why asus is bad, especially compared to gigabyte.

Yeah, asus is pretty good, and not only with mobos.
My mobo is one of his cheapest, but it performs fairly well. I can oc to 4.8ghz with a reasonable voltage. Also the mobo doesn't seem to get that hot. The conectors are good, much features, handy bios, ...
All that for a cheap price!( not saying that I should choose it over a more expensive board from gigabyte or something)

So other than RMA and support why is ASUS so bad then?

It's not, to be fair. Only the RMA. And if you need to RMA in the first place, asus should be like I am sorry for your expirence, we will rma it as soon as possible. Not the board arrived broken even though you packed it in a foot of bubble wrap and of course we didn't drop it. RMA expirence is a very important thing.

It seems to be fine, better to go for Core I7 processor.

Don't listen to the noobs with jewelry links in the sig. I5s are just as good for gaming.

The jewellery link guy is a spammer.

Meh RMA doesn't bother me. If anything goes wrong, I'll send it back to Novatech and they can replace it for me so long as it's under their warranty. I've done it with RAM before.

Back to the build, I think it all looks fine. Wouldn't pay for Malwarebytes though, get the free one along with another free anti-virus such as Avast or Microsoft Security Essentials.

For now, there are no games using more then 4threads. Even the biggest and heavyest games won't use much more then 3threads. So I'm sure over maybe 4 years they'll pass, but still over the threads they perform well (seen in my bench).
