hi there this is my first build and i'm hoping it would last a long time. as a 16 year old in Ireland income is non existent but i am on about a 600 € budget (about 450-500£ or i think its 850$) so i've come up with some parts but i don't want my expectations to come up short as this is a do or die decision with money. this machine will be mostly used for rts gaming ( C&C 4 upcoming stronghold 3 maybe some graphic intensive games not sure ) this machine also must last a long time and perform in this time :)

so here are wat ive been looking at :

GPU: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-099-MS

MoBo, memory and CPU: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-042-OE

Case: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-017-OP&tool=3

HDD: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-130-SA&groupid=701&catid=14&subcat=1279

wifi: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=NW-014-OK&groupid=46&catid=1597&subcat=1622

CD drive: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=701&catid=10&sortby=priceAsc

not sure whether to get psu or would the psu with case be sufficient?

dont need monitor and can get cheap keyboard + mouse somewhere but are these good parts for a good rig?

also does any1 kno cheap places to get windows? im not bothered about which version.... i do however hav a machine that was bought from pc world a couple of years ago with vista but i dont think it came with a cd ( or should it have?) is there a way to get the OS from this to my new machine? (i kno it may sound stupid and i think i kno the answer but i needed to be sure about all possibilites )

Thanks for the help

Sher

the psu is the exact minimum so it should be upgraded, and the i3 2100 is way better than that, go to newegg and look at some combo, and you can oc yourself

You need to replace the PSU right away, or get a different case. Case PSUs are usually really bad and fail often. You need about a 550w. Look into corsair / silverstone / seasonic / xfx brands.

This is a nice medium-end PC. Don't expect to play all current games at blistering settings and have constant smooth fps. But normal settings, it should be fine.

I would go look at 1800 speed RAM instead of your 1600. Your motherboard can support it and it'll give you better performance for just a few bucks.

Other than that, looks good. You'll get better performance compared to your first build.

and the keyboard is usb 1.1, so downloading speed for the ipod may be slow as crap in comparison, but should still work, and i'm i think it may work with that ram and all but i know the processor doesn't support it, but i thinkif the mobo does it works, idk

i was guna change it, after a few times looking at that keyboard it looks all the more ugly but thanks for the heads up :)

The keyboard being usb 1.1 won't affect download speed for the ipod. USB 1.1 is fine for keyboards. Don't need super fast typing. Won't notice a thing.

looked at original post and realized nobody said anything about os, i think, but you can take the hdd out of your other machine, but then it'll be useless, otherwise it's 95 or 100, was on sale i think for 5 off, but it's the oem system builders disk, and needs to be 64-bit

It doesn't have to be 64-bit unless he wants to go for more than 4th of ram, does it?

upgrades are different and depending on where you are i'd go newegg but should be the same everywhere, just check if equal to 100 usd or less, the upgrade doesn't have advantages of full win7 i don't think, and you have to have a hdd with an older version on it.

The cooler that comes with it will be fine unless you decide to oc more than a little. Also, the stock cooler comes with some ok thermal paste.

Go for a newer chipset motherboard with AM3+ socket.
