First Look At Nehalem

Why do I see a big waste of money with these new chips. Most software doesnt even support quad core. If you can run Far Cry 2 and crysis on very high than whats the point of even looking at these chips.

You know you want it. :P

I know. LOL If the intel board supports SLI ill be ordering it the day it comes out because im a sucker for new things. If they come out at the end of the year than you can say bye bye to my tax money

How much faster are these processors going to be over the present quads?

Damn those look sick, I'll take one as well. We should ask Geoff, afterall Newegg is taking too long to redeem his 5K! :P

In the end, I'm sure there will be support for SLi. Intel and nVidia are fighting over a number of issues, atm, but they'll both stand to gain if the tech is supported.

The mid-range chip will be clocked at 2.93 GHz. That's much faster than previous mid-range chip speeds. So, if the procs overclock well (apparently they will), you should be able to get 4 GHz + at a reasonable price.

wow that all looks amazing. amazingly expensive that is. there is no way im buying one of those, my next upgrade will be to a Q9450 or to an E8400. screw BTX.

excuse me from the language for a second, but i think intel and nvidia need to stop fighting, and pull their heads out of their asses, the only person really losing is the actual consumer, nvidias gtx 280's also don't work in sli on the skulltrail board, even though it has the correct chips, at least ati is cooperating, on another note, i hope they come out with a dual socket board

The X58 boards are ATX. I see your point, though. The Penryn chips are still awesome.

I like the new logos.

yeah its weird if anyone should have a vendetta with intel it should be amd
why would you want a 280GTX when you could get a HD 4870X2 ?

currently, the 4870x2 is not available to retail, so if i wanted to build with it, i couldn't consider it, until the 12th, what doesn't surprise me is that a pair of 4870x2's in crossfire beats a pair of gtx280's in sli is a complete and total duh answer, its 4gb's of ram vs 2gb's, and 4 cores vs 2 cores, its completely obvious that 4 cores/4gb's of ram is going to win
