First overclock attempt!

Well, not really, I'd messed with some 486's in the past, but that's beside the point :P

Anyway, I updated my bios to try and get SSE support on this machine. Unfortunetly, I couldn't, however, the new bios did open up a couple features, such as faster bus speeds! I bumped it up to 150MHz/300MHz, and it worked fine! Should I leave it like this or could this cause any damages?

The computer is that lappy down there(XP2000) WCPUID shows the new specs, MBMonitor shows about 120F processor(which was the normal temp) Did I get some more performace out of this old thing :D

Well, just if anyone's wondering, SISandra showed a pretty big increase in my performace. My normal speed(which I clocked back down just for safty) gives me just under normal XP2000 speeds(remember, this IS a laptop type machine) At 150/300 FSB, I get just OVER 2200 speeds. I ran it like this for a few minutes and never had a problem. However, I've heard this can decrease the life of the processor and all... Is this true?

yes it does decrease the lifespand of the processor but by the time that it burns out it will be completely obsolete besides ur probably going to have a new computer by that time anyway

All overclocking will slowly kill your cpu, but there is no real way for us to tell if your overclocking is ok. The only real way is if you keap it overclocked(remember good cooling) and do some stuff for a day if it doesnt crash or enything you can bump it up even more untill you start getting the bsod or other errors. And eventualy if windows wont start just bum it back down by reseting the csmos or what not.

Not Usualy A Good Idea To Overclock Lappys As They Get Hot Anyway. But Hey If Your Ok With It why The Hell Not.
