First pc rebuild

Hi guys,
Ive just joined and am new to all this but im hoping to gain experience in repairing and building pc's.

Ive just been offered a pc and i want to know if any of the parts would be worth using to build myself a media center?

Its a E SYSTEM PC, Pentium 4 3.0GHz, (Without hard drive)

I know this is getting old now so would i be better off starting from scratch or maybe looking for a damaged media center on ebay?

well that pentium 4 isnt bad, its certainly nice to go atleast dual core nowadays but that processor you have is definately usable. There are many things in "older" computers that are usable even in higher end computers. Things like...

keyboard
mouse
monitor
computer case
power supply
hard drive

List as many of the computer's parts, for us, that you can. That way we can tell you what is still good and what should be upgraded.
