Hey guys I have been building computers for a couple years. glad to be apart of this thread. My question that I have been trying to figure out all day is the following:

Can an itx motherboard fit in a microatx case. More specifically, will the standoffs align. I have an aerocool m80 if that helps. I think it will just eyeing the design of both types of motherboards but I am not sure. Thanks!

Any help is appreciated :)

Looks like the standoffs would match up, so it should fit fine. The I/O panel for the board is a different story, have no idea on that one.

You could always ask wherever you're buying from to try it for you, surely they have stock lying around for testing and things like this.

Well it should fit any mATX or even a full tower ATX case. Its just I dont know if the I/O panel for a ITX board would fit the case. Dont know if the ITX panel is standard size or shorter.

just looked up the dimensions of an mini itx (6.7inches). Backside of case io panel seemed around there. interesting...

Appears it would fit but well see if anyone else chimes in. Thanks again guys.

wanted to buy it from newegg :/

Newegg do their own videos on stuff, as do TigerDirect, all it takes is an email :) In fact I'd be surprised if they wouldn't try for you, because that'd mean you'd be less likely to buy something from them!

Are you talking baby/mini ITX?
"The four mounting holes in a Mini-ITX board line up with four of the holes in ATX-specification motherboards, and the locations of the backplate and expansion slot are the same (though one of the holes used was optional in earlier versions of the ATX spec). Mini-ITX boards can therefore often be used in cases designed for ATX, micro-ATX and other ATX variants if desired."

If a case fits itx and some other larger size, the i/o shield must be the same size. Perhaps the panel is shorter than the shield.

thats the information I was looking for thank you very much! I will let everyone know if newegg says the same. I cant believe that was on wiki and i missed it :facepalm
