First Post looking for help with upgrading my HP

So I been having for 2 years already my HP Touchsmart Tx2 laptop.

I got it as a graduation gift. It been acting real slow already, somethimes I have problem viewing youtube videos. The whole screen touch thing it was never really great even when I first got it I wonder why.

The spec are

Window Vista Home Premium
Service pack 1

window experience 3.3
AMD Turion(tm) X2 Dual Core Mobile RM-74 2.20GZ
4GB RAM
64 bit operating system


I would like to see if I can upgrade to window 7, I found out my ram is expandable up to 8GB I was planing in doing this if possible but i been told i would need to change my processor which is more money. Basically I want to wipe out everything of my laptop with new window and better ram.

I will be installing a DJ program later on thats why I would like to get my laptop ready for it :confused: help!!!!
 
You don't need to change your processor to add more memory, besides anymore you are basically stuck with the processor you have on a laptop. If your laptop runs vista, it will run windows 7, just make sure you get the 64bit version if you plan on getting more memory.

Which version of window 7 would you recommend?

Would this ram work for me? 8GB 2X4GB DDR2 SODIMM 200PIN 800MHz PC2-6400 HYNIX for $175?

Is it really necessary to go from from 4gb to 8gb for a laptop. It may be just upgrading to window 7 most of my problems would be solved but if anything i can always upgrade the ram later on right?

Well i just took up the plate where my ram goes I found this on the ram

It had another sticker said- Made in China M470T5663Q23-CF7

AND ANOTHER STICKER

REPLACE WITH HP SPARE

any of this helps?

So window 7 ultimate is not really necessary then.
 
I meant I needed the model number for the laptop not the memory. Windows 7 Ultimate is not required.

You can upgrade memory later after installing windows 7 if you feel you actually need more memory.

And if you already have 2 sticks of 2gb of ram then why are you buying 8gb total? Just buy another 2 x 2gb if you feel like you need it. Just check your ram usage when running your programs, if you are close to maxing out then get more.
