First time attempting a build, a few obvious questions!

Yeah, thats a good case. Get a HD 7870. A GTX 670 is pretty much overkill for anything today, and is expensive. A 7870 is a great card.

all looks good, but I would look for something from MSI, EVGA, or Gigabyte on the motherboard. I have entirely no respect for their company at this point. And its an iffy board.

Yeah. As we know all manuf'rs will have an issue with something at some point. The TS could move up to the UD5H and still be under 1,600.

Sorry it's taken me a while to reply--I've been terribly busy these past few days.

But I've been doing some thinking and decided to go with what I really wanted plus the GTX 670. Benny Boy, thank you for showing me the combo deal with the case and HDD. That really saved me a few bucks! Thank you to everyone else as well. Without your help I wouldn't have been able to put together something like this :)

Here it is. A few hundred dollars over my budget, but here it is!

Coolermaster RC-692A-KKN5 case

CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX650 power supply

Sandy Bridge i5-2500k processor

Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H motherboard

CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB ram

EVGA GeForce GTX 670 2GB graphics card

Windows 7 home premium 64 bit

Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB 7200 RPM hard drive

Crucial M4 128GB SSD

ASUS 24x DVD burner

Grand total: $1,592.99

I got a deal at Future Shop for a 23" Acer LED monitor for about $150, too. Before I order everything I'd just like to double check with you guys. Thanks again.

That's all good stuff which you have chosen there. There isn't really anything I'd change, apart from maybe get an i5 3570K if you like as the 3570K is a newer chip, but I have a 2500K and it is a great chip.

Perhaps get a GA-Z77X board, such as the Z77X-UD3H. Not sure how much money you want to spend though? ;)

I shopped around and found another combo deal on the 3570k processor and the Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H motherboard... so it's actually working out to about a buck cheaper than what I had previously picked out. I should stick with this, yes? Haha.
