Hi

First time builder here looking to build a pretty good rig for office work, photoshopping and moderate gaming. I tend to do a lot of multi-tasking. The parts below cost about $1550 from Newegg Canada including taxes and shipping.

I'm not an expert in any of this so I'd appreciate any comments or suggestions.

Thanks!

• Intel Core i5-2500K
• GIGABYTE GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
• G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9Q-16GBRL
• SAPPHIRE Vapor-X 100283VX-2L Radeon HD 5770 (Juniper XT) 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express
• Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
• Western Digital Caviar Black WD1502FAEX 1.5TB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
• Crucial RealSSD C300 CTFDDAC128MAG-1G1 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
• CORSAIR Enthusiast Series CMPSU-550VX 550W ATX12V V2.2
• ASUS DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS Black SATA 24X DVD Burner

How does the following power supply look for $74?

XFX Core Edition PRO550W (P1-550S-XXB9) 550W ATX12V 2.2 & ESP12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

I was thinking of getting the 2600k but decided to go for the 2500k and use the $100 I save on 8GB more RAM.

The XFX 550w is higher quality than the Corsair one. Good choice with the 2500k too, the 2600k just isn't worth it for a higher stock multiplier.

16GB of RAM is total overkill. You'd be better spending your money somewhere else. You won't even notice a difference from 8GB to 16GB.
