Ok. so this will be my first build EVER from the ground up and I've come here to ask the pros just a few questions.. So here is the run down.

Current motherboard I am considering to order is

the ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard

Now I've heard this baby is freaking bad a** and packs quite a punch.

But I am having a hard time finding which PCU cooling system "at a decent price" to use for this.

Also Going for 6GB of memory "for right now and will upgrade to 12GB later"

and would like some information on affordable "good quality" memory at affordable price.

As for the Case I'm looking into http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811156062

Think that will hold enough or might have to go bigger?

as for the rest of the set up I have:

EVGA 01G-P3-1281-AR GeForce GTX 285 1GB 512-bit

Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB

CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit

So how am I looking so far? please do help with some tips. would really help me out as I am really into trying to make this computer work great for gaming.

ok, please tell me the following things....
(some of these have language not suitable for younglings...)

What games are you trying to play?

What all do you do on your computer? just gaming? or everything?

Do you edit photos?? if not...

WHY THE **** 12 GB RAM!!?? ARE YOU CRAZY!

srry, i got a lil carryed away... the most you will posibly need it at ALL 4 gb... unless you edit photos, then youll need 8 gb... thats IT!

Which CPU are you getting? RAM speed (DDR3 1600, 1866, 2000) should
depend on what chip you chose.

If you're getting a i7 920 then DDR3 1600 will be fine.
This kit is $166.00 and there are cheaper kits, but I wouldn't
skimp. This is the memory that I have and it works superbly:

As far as CPU cooling, I have the Noctua and it works great, and is on par
with the Thermaltake TRUE and some others in terms of efficiency.

Atm I am I am playing around on WoW WotLK And FFXI. And On the dell computer i'm usuing these games Just blow...

Graphics is horrible and I LAG.. VERY badly... it's worse on WoW as i try to run around in Dalaran I lag for 20-25 secs EVERY STEP and as for raids lag in between fights ALL the time.. AND i play on the lowest settings known to man.

So As off right now I am trying to build a computer "just for gaming"

that will knock you off your socks and play nearly all games at full settings..

Also prepare for high demanding games Such as teh game crysis that my father been talking about ALL THE TIME.. lol

Try to be constructive and not critical.

The board he chose doesn't support 4 or 8 gigs of RAM.

It's a Triple channel board. If you put 4 or 8 gigs in, the RAM would only
run in Dual Channel.

oh well 3 or 6 is fun, but 12 is OUTRAGIOUS...

so hes going i7? i can slap a build together...
then you can do it correctly lol

Alright!! Please do a nice build lol

And yeah Maybe the thought on putting up 12 was lil bit over doing it.. LOL

lil too over excited on hooking this baby up lol.

There's a pretty nice build in my sig. =D

I know you've chosen a different board, but you could
look up my other components and consider them.

My exact system would cost you $1500.00 right now.

What Games do you play and how well dose your build work?

i mean i can assume it'll play ALOT on full settings and like no lag at all

And also that case looks freaking Awesome compared to the one i choose lol. seems like it's nice a roomy as well

I play Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2142, Crysis, Portal. Anything I want basically. =D

I have all my games on high and I get between 200-250fps in Battlefield,
and like 30-40 in Crysis on Very High settings, 200-300fps in Portal (can't remember if it maxes out at 200 or 300)
I could get more frames in Crysis, but the graphics are just sick at that setting.

To say my case is roomy is an understatement. It's very nice and has GREAT
airflow, but it is a bit LARGE. hehe It truly is a massive case, but it's sweet.

OK so. I'm basically finished.. my last and final questions ARE:

The hard Drive....

Did a follow up to Boda's Hard drive and i must say...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136322 Holy Crap that's one heck of an HD but Freaking Expensive whew!.. lol

So last question.. is that HD really needed for A gaming build? or can go with something just as good as that and little less expensive.

Oh And I've Found my CPU cooler http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103055

Freaking mini Car engine FTW rofl!!!!

it mainly affects the loading times of things, like it would boot your operating system faster than the same system with a 7200 rpm drive, and if you don't mind reduced storage, look at this, it might only be 64 gb's, but you'll have better times on anything hard drive related, and its also completly silent, and if you're having problems with wow, you might also want to try and get a faster internet package in addition with the new rig
