I've been considering building my own gaming rig but have never built a computer before, and not sure exactly what all is needed. I've been researching for best bang for my buck pieces and have got together quite a few pieces. Not sure if I'm just missing something and if everything's compatible. My budget is $700-$900. This comp is mainly being made to run the new game "Rift" with at least moderate to high settings. Here's what i Have so far.

I have USB gaming mouse/keyboard, and I use my 24" flat screen 1080i LCD tv as a monitor hooked up to my computer with a HDMI cable.

Motherboard - ASUS M4A78T-E Motherboard

Processor - AMD ADX640WFGMBOX Athlon II X4 640 Quad Core Processor - 3.00GHz or AMD Phenom II 1055T Six Core Processor. (Found a bundle deal with same motherboard with the Phenom II. For $60 would it be worth it?

Graphics card - MSI 912-V220-040 Radeon HD 5670 Video Card (Not sure if it's compatible with motherboard, and is 1024mb the same as a 1gb card like the - XFX HD585XZAFC Radeon HD 5850 Video Card?)

Hard drive - Western Digital WD5001AALS Caviar Black Hard Drive (Really is more than enough.have 250gb now and not even close to filling.May even reduce size.)

RAM - Corsair XMS3 TW3X4G1333C9AG 4GB Dual Channel DDR3 RAM (Not sure about compatibility with motherboard again.)

PSU - Corsair CMPSU-450VX 450-Watt ATX (unless it's not enough watts, then I think - XFX P1-750B-CAG9 750W)

DVD - Asus DRW-24B1ST 24X Internal DVD Burner (Not sure if this will work as an optical drive?)

Case - Cooler Master HAF 932 Full Tower (Will it fit everything?)

All this fits right into my budget, but is this enough to go?Or will I need to buy more pieces of equipment?Only thing I can think of is a sound card, but I have read online that it's not needed?Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Quad core is going to be plenty for gaming, so only spend the extra money if you want the 6 core for some other reason.

For the graphics card I would get something nicer than the 5670. 5850 would work, but I believe HD 6850 is better and about the same price (can someone else confirm that?).

I don't know much about power supplies, but I would think you might want one more in the 600W range (the 750W one would clearly work also.)

Everything else seems good. Hopefully someone who knows more than me will give you some more feedback.

Motherboard - ASRock 870 EXTREME3 is good value for money. Or get something with 890GX chipset, 790GX is a bit old

PSU - If you stick with 5670, you won't need more than 450W. But if you getting new machine, I suggest you getting 550W +

Video card - 5670 is a bit of low end for gaming rig. Probably GTX 460 1GB or AMD 6850 should fit in your budget.

HAF 932 is a big case. HAF 922 is cheaper and should be enough for you.
