First time builder needs help

Ski Unit

As you already know, I am a first time builder. I currently have a POS hp laptop with 1.7ghz celeron, 1gb ram, and I need more computing power for gaming, photo, audio, and video editing, and also for general everyday use.
I am fairly tech savvy, but am a little nervous about my first build. I have created a list over @ newegg of parts I want to get.

I think that this computer should match my needs quite nicely. I am a little nervous that my parts will not work together, and my biggest concern is that the PSU included with my case is not powerful enough. It would mean alot to me if someone who is an experienced builder will look at my "wish list" carefully and tell me if all my parts are suitable and compatible as well as make suggestions for what might be better or what i am missing. I just want that reassurance before I spend alot of money on my dream computer.
Thanks in advance!!:D

Here is my wish list: http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=11495366

Here is what I see with the parts you selected...

1. Get a SATA interface CD/DVD drive...the one you have selected is IDE.

2. The case is not that great. For over $100 (plus shipping) you can get much more. It only has a couple 80mm fans and the power supply is junk...you are correct. You'll have to throw a couple 120mm fans in it.
Antec 300 ($60 with free shipping)

3. The power supply is very important piece of hardware. Here is a Thermaltake 430w for a good price...it will power that setup easy. It is $28 after mail in rebate.

4. Some Seagate 1TB 7200.11 model hard drives are having firmware issues. I would recommend a Western Digital drive. Seagate has released new firmware for the drives but...uh...no. You can Google "Seagate Firmware Issues" and you'll see hundreds of mad customers. Here is a 640GB Western Digital drive for a good price.

5. Get Arctic Silver 5...not the Ceramique.

6. The 9400GT is really not a gaming card what so ever. The MSI model you selected only has 16 Stream Processors . I would borrow a few extra dollars from somebody and bump up a little. Here is a 9600GSO with 96 Stream processors for $70. You'll be much better off in the end and much more pleased with your purchase.

7. You do understand the motherboard you have picked is micro ATX? That's cool if that's what you want, but there are good ATX motherboards for about the same price.

I have to eat right now...I'll look again later and double check everything :)

wow thanks, I have some more looking around to do.
That case appealed to me because of the nice clear door and leds. Also the meters for temp and fan speed and fan control looked nice. Any suggestions for cases with those features too?
Also what is the issue with a micro ATX? any suggestions for an inexpensive alternitive that will work with my cpu? I have selected that CPU and mobo because newegg had a $33 combo discount.
I am trying to keep this below 1k w/ monitor.

Also, I suggests you getting a better PSU such that you don't need to change it when you want to upgrade,

Thermaltake TR2 430W only have 65% efficiency and +12V @ 18A, not good at all...
Get something like Antec Basiq BP500U 500W/ OCZ StealthXStream OCZ500SXS 500W
