Take a look at these parts. It is $580 total not including shipping costs. This processor is better than the one you selected:

AMD Athlon 7750 Dual-Core Kuma (2.7 Gigahertz) Processor - $60

MICROSOFT Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit - $99

SAMSUNG DVD Burner Model SH-S222A - $24

The AMD Athlon II X2 250 Regor is socket AM3. It won't work with a socket AM2+ motherboard will it? And why would you go with the POWERCOLOR AX4870 video card over the one I chose? The video card has half the memory of the one I found.

One other piece of advice. NewEgg will charge you sales tax as you live in California.

I also found the Athlon 7750 Dual-Core processor for $2 cheaper here ($58):

4870 512MB usually better than 4850 1 GB.

dam guys im confused so which is better? im leaning towards daisymtc but also 2048Megabytes choice lol...as for the OCZ power supply you guys think i should pay 10 bucks more? for a OCZ StealthXStream OCZ700SXS 700W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Active PFC Power Supply - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341019
or stick with the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...&Tpk=OCZ600SXS
im going to have to slowly upgrade my parts since im short of money

I would take all the parts in my list with but replace a few with the following:

POWERCOLOR AX4870 512MD5 Radeon HD 4870 512MB video card - $125

ASUS M3A76-CM AM2+/AM2 motherboard - $60

OCZ StealthXStream OCZ700SXS 700W Power Supply - $80

I would not get the Athlon II processor Daisymtc recommended only because the BIOS of the motherboard would likely need to be flashed in order for the processor to work correctly. Since you are saving money on the motherboard go with this Phenom Tri-Core processor that is better than the original Athlon 7750 processor that I recommended:

AMD Phenom 8650 Toliman Tri-Core Processor - $79

but isnt the dual core better than the triple core? and how hard is it to flash? to make the processor work correctly?

btw is it possible? if i bought the 700w power supply and video card and use it with my current motherboard until i can upgrade it? my motherboard is AGP PCI IMB USB i2c/SMBus Model MS-6540

Most tri-core processors are better than dual-core processors. The Phenom 8650 Tri-Core has more processing power than the AMD Athlon II 250 Dual-Core processor in my opinion.

Flashing a BIOS might require you to use another socket AM2+ or AM2 processor to even get the Athlon II 250 to work. I don't know how to flash a BIOS without a floppy disk because I have never done it.

The 700 Watt power supply would likely work with your present system but you may need a 24-pin to 20-pin adapter to get it to work. The power supply also may or may not fit in your current case.

My apologized i was thinking bout the quadcore lol but i see bout the tri-core so i wouldnt have to flash anything with the tri-core then? and btw i did a lil bit research and found out theres a AMD HD8750WCGHBOX Phenom Triple-Core 8750 2.4GHz 95W L2-512KBx3 L3-2MB Socket AM2+ PIB CPU is this 1 good also for 30 bucks more?
http://www.amazon.com/AMD-HD8750WCG...6?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1244916225&sr=1-6

sorry if im asking to much im just trying to be careful on what i buy with my budget and thanks everyone for the help so far i appreciate it.

If your gonna spend more get a phenom II based tri core vs the older Phenom I tech:

If you want a good socket AM3 motherboard look at the GIGABYTE GA-MA770T-UD3P motherboard.

GIGABYTE GA-MA770T-UD3P AM3 Motherboard - $80
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128392

Phenom II 710 Tri-Core Processor - $109
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=10010065

You will also need to get double data rate 3 (DDR3) RAM for this motherboard. DDR2 RAM will not work with this motherboard.

Patriot Extreme Performance 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1333 - $45

So did you guys decide which would be the best build for around this price? It seems the parts keep changing. Lol. I have a similar budget and also looking for a good gaming pc.

Start your own thread and we can help you out;)

yea i checked that 1 also but its an AM3 Socket Type i dont think it fit with the ASUS M3A76-CM AM2+/AM2 but i like this MB if possible i might want to check out an ASUS AM3 motherboard...what could you guys recommend me with a pretty good AM3 MB?

AM3 cpu can run in am2+ mobo, but am2+ cpu cant run in am3 mobo. The 710 will work in that motherboard.

Other than the memory controller. The AM3 has 938 pins, the AM2/+ has 940 pins. Hence keeps you from putting a AM2/+ processor with a DDR2 memory controller in a AM3 board with DDR3 slots.
