First time building a computer

Recently my old desktop broke and i have been needing a replacement. I am on a budget and my friends have informed me that the most cost effective thing would be to build my own computer. They got together the following list of parts:

I plan on using the computer for surfing the web, watching movies, and some gaming (not much). my question is will all these parts work together?? and what could i change to potentially make the price cheaper?

Thank you in advance

You'll need a stronger power supply-I would suggest at least 550 to 600 w--just in case you want to upgrade a little more.

I have the Corsair 430CX PSU and while it seems to work good it's of questionable quality (from the expert builders' mouths). I'd suggest Seasonic/Seasonic made PSU to protect your investments. I replaced mine with a Seasonic 550w modular PSU.

If you're going to use a 64 bit OS I'd suggest 8 gigs of memory. Corsair Vengeance memory is very popular with the builders and highly recommended.

Get a Gigabyte UD3H Z77, a CX 500 (cx 430 has serious whine problems). Other than that, good. Get a saphire HD 7850 for $165 also.

I've used two CX 430s and not had any problems with them regarding whining. One of them is coming up to a year old and another is coming up to a few months.

But anyway, I agree with the above. I'd get a 7850 or a 7870 over a 560 Ti in this day and age and you probably want a CX 500 or CX 600 for either one of those cards. A CX 430 may be cutting it a bit short. A CX 600 would give you headroom for upgrading too.

I'd also get a Z77 board like this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128544&Tpk=z77x-ud3h

I'd also get RAM like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231455 8GB 1866MHz (2x4GB) not sure why you were intending to buy a single 4GB stick?

Okay, but more people have complained about the CX 430 than any PSU from seasonic l, antec, or Corsair from what i have seen. Yeah, i was going to say you should get 2 x 4 gb for ram.

I didn't have problem with my CX430 which I had for a few months but I decided why push it? I guess it's good for a basic system but when adding more components it kinda makes you think about it.
