First time gaming rig Price point pro's and cons

So i am looking at building my first gaming rig but my desired budget seems to be inadequite (which i learned from some research).

so instead of posting a budget what if i post my desires verse my leniancy and see what you guys/gals can think of.

i feel like if i cant play some of the top games today at max res i might as well stick with my consoles so i would like to be playing on a good high res in games for a year or so.

i would also like to have a system worth upgrading, so in 5 years i dont have to say... "might as well just build a whole new computer."

so if someone could help me with a couple builds or even just a price point i should save up for (i won't be purchasing a rig for about 4 mos) that would be awesome.

ps: i have also been wondering about the direct benefit of solid state drives (of if i should even be looking at them aiming at a budget rig) and the prices of computer parts in general(ie: how much the price drops and in how long)

thanks so much :)

im also wondering if compatibility is simply measured by pin mounts and connections or if there is something else i am missing

compatibility wise if it's different then most likely won't fit in any way, some things yes but most no, high res and high details means ~1500 usd bucks, and budget implies half that at most, so i'm gunna say stick to consoles, and in 5 years to upgrade you'd basically half to restart other than case and maybe power supply, in 1 year your motherboard won't take any newer cpu's most likely, that's the way pc games are and always will be. and ssd's bassically make the system a ton faster, as long as the cpu is fast enough, it just increases the speed the cpu gets the info by alot, but if the cpu isn't fast enough to keep up then there's no point, and they are rediculously expensive.

thanks johnny that was helpful though not what i was hoping to hear. haha

well stranglehold i was hoping i could get by with spending max 600 but i also dont want to have to purchase a brand new rig in 2 years. so i guess i will just have to bide my time. do you agree with johnny that i need to spend around 1500 so that im not sititng in front of a shitbox in a yr?

it won't be a shitbox, just need a new gpu if you want decent settings, and the cpu may need to be upgraded which is where ebay is nice.

and btw, i forgot to mention this, max res is 1080p, which is what looks crystal clear on my 65'' tv, no real need for that in games unless on like a 65'', if you're on like 1280x1024/968, that's a different story, but you'll still need a new gpu in a year or 2 and possibly cpu in 2 or 3 which'll mean a nes mobo unless you go am3+

you message apeared after, on the 1500 buck version you'd only need a new gpu to stay on max, believe me, max is way more then you think it is, max would blow your mind if you think it is what i think you think it is, god that sounds funny/weird, for like 600 you could get somethng that'll work, but not much more, but then again, that's about what i'll be doing next cuz i b broke.
