Hi, I want to make my own gaming computer from scratch and picked out the parts. I want to make sure the parts are compatible and that's why I am asking on this forum.

Here's the list:

If any of them are not compatible or I'm missing anything, please possibly leave a link to one that is. Also any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance

It will work, but for the money you're going to spend on everything else, go with a socket 775 MOBO and get a core 2. It'll run circles around anything AMD makes right now

all looks great. and it is your choice between core2duo or amdx2. I heard amd is also using socket am2 for the new processor so it will be a hell of a machine when new processor comes out.

Intel is also sticking with the LGA775 socket for a while, so you can upgrade to Intel's new processors easy as well.

Well apparantly lot of you guys think I should get Intel Duo Core. Then can anyone give me the link to the processor I should get and a matching motherboard?

well it depends alot on your other stuff. is the ram going to be compatiable, is the video card? case? OS? you should pick out the processor first then we'll see about the other stuff =) good luck

That looks good, the 680i's are better if you got the money....i would try to wait until the 22nd for the Intel price drop, unless your impatient like me :P .

all mobos and everything are compatible. only need to worry about CPU and mobo for that, PCIe goes without saying now

so whys everyone suggesting core 2 duo then? anyone cared to check the performances of the two processors.

The A64 X2 6000+ is shown on toms hardware benchmarks to perform at the level of an E6400. In many real situation tests done it actually performs closer to the E6600 at a lower cost.

Dont instantly believe that the core2duo is going to destroy AMD in every respect. The 6000+ is an excellent choice and doing a damn good job at the moment.
