First time overclocking - Help please!

Hello and thanks for viewing my post.

I want to start overclocking my cpu and basically dont know where to start. I used to use 'Clockgen' on my old system but i dont know if thats what I really wanted...it seemed a bit too easy in a way. I know that you can overclock properly in BIOS but im really not sure how.
Any help is greatly appreciated! My system specs are posted below.

JUST DON"T, if you've overclocked before, it doesn't matter, just don't (if you haven't figured, I had a bad experience) save time by getting better stuff so you don't need to over clock.
 
To be honest, im just curious at the moment. My system is all new and still smells like a new tv :D I did however go into my BIOS and raise my cpu ratio from 'auto' to 9.5 (slowly) got bored of it and checked my core with CPUID...turns out theres no difference. Maybe its locked? Either way, need I worry?

Also, wildgoose...what was your bad experience just out of interest? :P
