First time PC builder...

I've pretty much found all the parts that I want to buy, all i need help is with compatibility, if some of the parts are not compatible with others please tell me!

--- Corsair 1024MB (2x512) TWINX-3200XL 400MHZ DDR RAM, XLow Latency
--- Gigabyte Radeon X800 256MB 256bit AGP8X DSUB TVOUT DVI TWINV
--- LG GSA-4163BB Int DL 16X DVDRW +/-, OEM Beige or Black
--- Samsung 52x32x52 Beige CD-RW Drive - Retail, with Nero 5
--- 19in LCD Monitor - unsure about the brand & model.
--- Windows XP Pro.

Do you guys think that a Sound Card is necessary for watching DVD's and sometimes playing games.

Ok, I think that they are all compatible Just wait for someone to verify that though, I'd hate for you to buy something when it isn't compatible

Errrmm, if you are going to be playing games and watching DVD's then it probably would be better for you to have a sound card. A popular sound card at the minute is the "CREATIVE Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS". A link to this product:

lg optical drives arent the greatest. have a look at CD/DVD 101 for suggestions.

The parts are compatible ... you'll almost definitely have to do a BIOS update to get the 2nd core to be recognized by that motherboard though
