Fixed my heat problems...w/ pics

Last night i got a little frisky with my computer, so i took it apart, started with cleaning out the grfx hsf, had a decent amount of crap in there. So i cleaned that, then realized the rest of the compy needed cleaning too, my usual blowing it out with the compressor from home didnt do the job a month ago.

I then took apart my cooler for the northbridge, cleaned that, and took off the cpu fan and side fan and cleaned them and the cpu heatsink as well. I put artic silver ceramique for the northbridge, as5 for 6800gt and some thermaktake compound for the memory on the card.

Temps for my gpu during a game,as i posted before, were topping 95C, now they dont go above 75C. I also noticed they finally turned the heat on in my residence hall, so its kinda warm in here and my cpu is running pretty cool even cooler than when i left the window open the whole day and it was like freezing in here...it kind of shows you good airflow and a clean case go a long way.

and since i know everyone loves pics...here ya go

ps..sorry for the long post, im very excited now.

Idle it runs around 48-52C and load its around 61-74C...for this card its fine, i know this for a fact, plus your running a completely different card with a completely different threshold.

You might want to invest in an aftermarket heatsink with those temps.... My card NEVER goes over 54C......

Remember, the threshold for most GPUs is 125C. So, even though lower temperatures are better, they still are fine. I decided to invest in an aftermarket cooler since my X800 was load 85C and was quite loud. now it usually idles at 40C, and load is somewhere in the 60s and 70s, though I don't really care anymore :).
