My USB flash drives crashes Windows XP in my laptop! The moment I put it in, I get the BSOD and Windows automatically restarts. I've had the flash drive for more than a year and this only started happening after I reformatted the laptop. What should I do? :(

try to use other USB ports, XP is plug n play for flash disks, if its not a damaged flash disk maybe reinstall windows.

Do you have any other USB devices that you use/are using? The problem might be with some badly installed USB controller drivers. Try it out with some other USB device and see if the same thing happens...

The flash drive itself might be bad, I'd say pitch the thing and get a new one... :)

I'd have to agree with that as well. Especially considering that they are so inexpensive now you could probably get one with more memory for less than what you paid for the one that's crashing.

Anytime you have a situation where something is giving you a problem and it's relatively inexpensive to replace, instead of driving yourself nuts...replace it.
