my friend got a new 2gig. pretty cool, i guess. well, he didnt format it before using it, and he never properly ejected it. so i'm thinking one of these is why this problem occure:

he cant delete or copy anything onto it, and he cant format it because it is "write protected" anyone know how we can fix this? just for the record there is no little switch on it.

Is it like this on every computer? Not formatting it wouldn't make any difference as it came formated... Otherwise you couldn't use it. As for not ejecting it, as long as it's not being used at the moment, it should be just fine.

just a thought..........it should be ready to go when purchased. not removing properly was likely the problem. Mine has a switch. if not query google micro drive recovery. some software ya buy, but maybe something is available for free.

Tremmor is right. It may have a switch on it much like floppies have write-protect slots on them. (My first flash drive did) Look the drive over, otherwise, google for a drive recovery like Tremmor said.

i'm thinking switch myself. could also be defective.... my friend purchased an 8 gig duo pro lexar memory and had the same situation on his psp. it was bought off ebay and was sent without its original case

how about giving us the brand

about yanking the usb without safely removing.... that shouldn't cause any harm to the device as it's made to be quick removal. check hardware properties ->policies for more details. however, if it was removed while in the process of transferring info then it may cause problems

like i said in my first post, we looked it over there is no switch...but, i'll try your guys' first suggestion, i'll look up a drive recovery, as for brand i forgot and i dont own the thing.
