flash drive ram?

hey..have u guys heard of the flash drives that can be used as extra ram. theres a 1gb model for 40$ and i was wondering if they are just as good as the internal ram?
 
No where near as fast as RAM. You would be better off purchasing more RAM if you need a performance increase.
 
THey are very little help and sometimes. As far as I know, you also need Vista to be able to use them as more RAM (called ReadyBoost)
 
You can put the swap file there but I don't think you can make it work similar to readyboost.
 
Haha, just to add to this, I did a little research. A Western Digial 100GB ATA100 drive has a write speed of about 43.6MB/s. A Corsair 4GB flash drive is about 28MB/s. Read is about 43/38 respectively. So in the end, you'd probably be better to just use an old HD :P
