depends on if you are a gamer or not man.
if you are a gamer you will want to pay more for your monitor, like I did with mine...
the reason for this is because of the low response time. If you aren't a gamer however you can get awesome monitors that aren't to expenseive. Viewsonics you will pay for, but will definitely get your moneys worth. and trust me, when buying an LCD, you get what you pay for, spend more now, or be pissed off because they suck.
I love Viewsonic, BenQ, and Samsung.
Check those out. Make sure you get at least a 500:1 color ratio with the monitors though. My mothers is a 19" Viewsonic with a 700:1. IT'S GOREGOUS! It does however have a 30ms, which makes it terrible for motion.
if you are a gamer or deal with movies or whatever, make sure you get at least a 16ms response....I think samsung will release an 8ms soon.
