floppy drive not working

when i put a floppy disk in the floppy drive it says you do not have access to the folder a; contact your administrator how can i get my floppy drive to work i know i have things on my disks it is a gateway computer and windows xp operating system

You will need to access the security properties for this drive. Goto My Computer and right-click on the floppy drive in question then choose "Sharing and Security..." from the menu. Click on the Security Tab and give yourself the correct permissions for the drive.

Keep in mind that you will have to have administrative rights in the first place in order to change permissions on the drive.
