Okay, I was never in the days of floppy's, I don't know anything about them, at work my boss put in a floppy, that had information on it and now when you go to click on it, it says disk not formatted, would you like to format now? Is there anyway that you can fix this or is it just a stupid floppy that will never work again. Thanks

ahh floppy's more then likely it was formatted by a computer for that format and your computer is a different format is is possible to get the data from another place and then reformat the disk and try again?

formatted by a computer for that format
kind of doubt it, it is worth asking your boss what OS created the diskette and would he mind formatting and putting the info back on. You can do anything to a floppy that you can do to your HD. ...and you can put the floppy in your shirt pocket. Floppy's have come a long way. Our first family computer was an IBM PC. It did not have a HD, it had 2 full height 160k 5.25 in floppy drives.
The OS was dos 3.3 and lived completely on one diskette, while the other diskett was your program disk. I had a totall of 96k of system ram, which made me a wild and crazy guy since everyone else had 64k.... more than you wanted to know ?

sorry to burst your bubble viking but if you still use floppy's as your primary medium you are way behind man from flash(jump, thumb) drives to even portable hdd's and cd and dvd floppy's are dead due to speed and how little the average one holds these days

I still put floppies in all the computers I build, it really is great thing to have, good for memtest, and anything else you may want to boot off of. Yes the storage is crap, but its $10 to put a floppy drive in.

true that, windows isn't designed to boot ceratin things except from floppy. they are handy, say if you want to update your bios.
if you format your floppy you will lose all the info on it, but you will have a brand new 5 cent blank disk.

Floppy's were a great thing, and they still can be useful. I don't see your problem with them, just realize that its OLD technology and can't be compared to todays flash drives.

lmfao...

i got a floppy in my pc-i pushed it as far in drive bay as i could and covered it with the silver plastick cover that come with my case lol...

looks like i aint got one but pull the plastic out and there it is

they do come in handy if yer xp is only upgrade so you can d/l boot up on yer floppys
