Folder became File!?

Hi everyone, I have a usb pen that I download all my music on to. When I put it in today, it was acting weird, it came up that there was a problem with the device and to do a scan of it, and all the folders names were jumbled up random letters. After the scan all the folders appeared to be back to normal except the music folder, it had turned into a file somehow, and I couldn't open it as it kept asking me which program toopen it with, and naturally none of them worked.

I then read something a little similar to this on a website (while I was trying to figure out what to do) and it suggested download File Scavenger and I did, and I seem to have found most if not all of my mp3 collection, but there seems to be about 10,000 extra mp3's just numbered.

Has anyone heard of anything like this before or can anyone tell me what the hell has happened here, any help would be muchly appreciated.




(Also just now while I was trying to find a forum to ask help on, I clicked into one called computerhelpforum.org and it came up immediately that a trojan horse has just been blocked, I thought I should just warn anyone to avoid that site.)

I would suggest you do a full virus scan of your system. What antivirus program do you use?

Also do the following.

You can download flash disinfector and run it with your usb flash drive attached to the system. It will create an autorun file that will stop any infections from getting on it.

• Please download Flash_Disinfector.exe by sUBs and save it to your desktop.
• Double-click Flash_Disinfector.exe to run it and follow any prompts that may appear.
  Note: Some security programs will flag Flash_Disinfector as being some sort of malware, you can safely ignore these warnings
• The utility may ask you to insert your flash drive and/or other removable drives including your mobile phone. Please do so and allow the utility to clean up those drives as well.
• Wait until it has finished scanning and then exit the program.
• Reboot your computer when done.

Note: Flash_Disinfector will create a hidden folder named autorun.inf in each partition and every USB drive plugged in when you ran it. Don't delete this folder. It will help protect your drives from future infection.
