Not sure where to put this so I put it here.

Anyway, My computer appears to be working fine when I start it up. I can use the internet and do anything as long as I don't click on a folder. When I click on a folder, the entire screen blacks out and random lines appear on the screen. I am forced to restart my computer using the external button, which may not be good.

Is this some kind of virus? How can I fix it? Please help!

did you download your latest video card drive? There was an hdr that came out for video cards. That might do the trick. If you have ati go to www.ati.com or nvidia.com or nvidia cards. Check it out.

boot into safemode in windows and try opening folders in their.... does it still happen, if it does then the problem is quite big and will probably require a format/reinstall of windows or at the least a repair installation fromt he weindows CD

can you open and run things liek command prompt, if you can you might want to try doing START - RUN - type "cmd" - ENTER - type "sfc.exe /scannow". Pop the windows disc in and let it do its thing. This is assuming you are running windows XP...?? are you...???

sfc.exe is windows System File Checker, it will can through your system file and replace any corrupt or damdged ones with the official Microsoft ones. its completely safe and has never messed up any machine ive used it on.... which is quite a few, lol
