Folder Syncing

Hey guys,

I was wondering, would it be possible to sync a folder on 2 computers so that when they are connected to the same network and both on they will both update? or easily update the folders without having to drag and drop all the files across.

I ask this as I am using 2 computers, I have a desktop PC and a Laptop which I will be taking into University with me, I like to do some of the work on my desktop as I have it with a dual monitor setup. I want to be able to transfer my uni work from my desktop to my laptop easily.

Any Ideas?

thanks!

Dave.

I believe a "Briefcase" will do that for you.

thanks for that ! I have been trying for over an Hour now to get it to work... but I cant understand it ! whatever I do it wont let me update any files...

Im either being really stupid or this is stupidly complicated... but I cant figure it out, anyone able to give me a hand?

I have used both the MS site and "help" to try and get it to work...I follow the instructions but it just wont work :S

thanks!

If you want true file synchronization you will need to be running a directory service, or a third party utility.

I strongly suggest you sign up for drop box. It is a free web based file sync that allows you to sync files to any computer with your account online. All data transfers are done over HTTPS, port 443, so it is encrypted and secure. You can give access to anyone else who has a dropbox account to your shared folder. Oh it is free for 2gigs of space.
