For a new computer, do I have to buy XP again?

I'll be using a new computer in a couple days and was wondering if I need to buy Windows XP professional again or can I just transfer it from the old computer to the new one. If not, is there anyway I can download it for free? I spent a little more then expected on my new PC and now I have no money left :( and i don't get my paycheck for another two weeks

This depends, are you going to buy a brand, like Dell or IBM? If you are doing so, then don't worry, they come with windows installed and you already pay the price of it included.

If you are going to build your own PC from scratch, then you will have to buy windows unless your current windows copy is an OEM version, which you can use without any problems.

This is the legal part of it :D

You can indeed just instal the same copy your using now onto your new pc. Just dont sell your pc that you had it installed on last with it.

That would be elegal.

You can only have it on 1 machine at a time!

Well legaly of course.
