for BF2

Would the X1900 XTX perform well for BF2 or would a 7800 GTX be better suited?

Defitantly get the X1900XTX it will be alot better then the 7800GTX. i would downgrade to the X1900XT instead of the XTX the only difference between them is the clockspeed is a little higher and it can be easily achieved by overclocking the videocard.

ok

the only problem is, i don't konw how to overclock lol. but thanks for your help. i'm building a computer and i just wanted to konw which to put.

Tools make OCing a video card very easy now.

If you post your entire rig (you may have already, I haven't seen all the threads) we could give you advice on that too, that is...if you want it.

there should be software that comes with your videocard that lets you overclock but you dont need to that videocard will be awesome enough at stock settings. and i still would go with the XT over the XTX cause it is alot cheaper and not much slower.

specs

ok thx. here are my system specs.

Intel 930 Pentium D 3.00 Ghz
1.5gb RAM (not sure of the #)
300GB hard drive
ATI Radeon X1300 Pro

if you need to know anything else, ask me.

im getting a new one soon. just wanted to konw how to OC for future reference.

You can OC the cpu through 3rd party programs or through your bios. Basically your increase the FSB in little incriments. And if you want to push it far, you'll need to increase Vcore and maybe Vdimm. Read OC 101, it tells you alot.

And to OC your graphics card, your drivers should allow you to do that. Or you can use ATItools.

id go for a 7900 GT. you dont need an X1900XT, unless you play at high resalutions...

I have a 6800 GT (apg_) an 800XL and a X1800XT, and at 1280 x 1024 they will all play BF2 at high settings perfectly...

A 7900GT is a good deal at £200, but hunt around.. scan has some XFX ones for £180 inc. vat (www.scan.co.uk/todayonly) they will play all games ATM fine.

the 7900 series is having some problems right now thats why i wouldnt get that and anyway i think the X1900XT is a better card then the 7900GT/GTX.

yes, but 7900 cost under £200 and X1900s cost about £280

sure they may be faster, but most people dont want to spend extra money where they dont need to....

Source? mine is OCed no problems after couple months

yea 799 problems

That's true the 7900 is having problems right now. I would probably still get the XTX because im putting it into a custom computer and it is cheaper than buying on by itself.

I would wait a while before buying one cause chances are you will get a defective one but if you want to its your choice.
