Force games to use card instead of integrated graphics?

My new build (Radeon 7970, 4670k, Windows 7 Professional, 16GB RAM) is giving me horrible framerates when playing Sonic Generations with all the graphics settings turned up at 1680x1050. Sonic Generations is not a graphically demanding game (at all), so I think that it may not be using the dedicated card. Can anyone tell me whats wrong?

I already downloaded the latest drivers for the card here:

If you have your montor is plugged into the 7970 GPU, its not using the onboard. Did you load all the lastest Intel motheoard drivers exept the Intel Gpu, could be causing a conflick

Check the bios and make sure it is not set to intergrated graphics first or the system will be ignoring the card and going straight to onboard graphics.

It will use whichever video card the monitor cable is plugged in to.

It can still use the intel graphics regardless of what it is plugged into.

This wont make any difference.

To the OP go here and make sure you have the latest drivers.
