Forgot Linksys password; not using Windows for that hack--where to go?

Hello,

I can't for the life of me remember the password for my years-old Linksys (G). It's broadcasting a wireless signal under the previous name but I can't get on the signal.

I've tried for hours and can't figure out how to reset it. :( I found the hack for Windows but don't know what to do for my systems:

desktop: PCLinuxOS
laptop: Mac

Help? Though I'm running Linux, please know I'm not as computer literate as I wish I was. I won't be insulted if you presume I don't know basics--it's likely I won't.

Log in on the webpage 192.168.1.1 admin is password and username. or leave password blank. you can then look at the password on the wireless security tab.

Do a 30-30-30 hard reset. Hold the reset button on the modem for 30 seconds, unplug and keep the reset button pressed for 30 seconds, plug it back in and hold it for 30 more seconds - all of this continuously holding the button. That should reset the router back to the original out-of-box configuration. At that point, the above post will get you back into the router.

x2. no point in finding out the password, just start over.
