format hdd ?

I'm moving my hdd from old to new built. Do I format the hdd before I move it to the new built or after?Do I use the XP disc to format the drive? I've already saved all the pic's, email and fav's to a cd so that part is done.I'll be reinstalling XP when I have the hdd in new built.

No need to format, just boot to the xp cd, delete existing partitions and then repartition and install XP.
