I have installed Windows XP ( upgrade ) after instaling Windows 98se on my PC
on a new 40 g hard drive,. Unfortunately, Local Disc ( C: ) says total size of disc is only 2.00 g
Help, please , what's going on

I don't think you did an upgrade, think you did a parellel install. You should do a fresh install of windows XP. Or go into add/remove programs and see if XP can be uninstalled now.

You can install XP directly from the upgrade disc. During the install it will ask to insert an older media (A 98 disc will work fine) then you can continue with the installation; no need to install 98.

thanks much....the fog is beginning to lift!....didn't know about not needing to install Windows 98se most encouraging

will report how i get on ....but might like to have a llittle lie down first

FORMATING HARD DRIVE
Dear fellas
I used
AOMEI Partition Assistant (Standard Edition 5.2) to extend Primary Drive C to 15 gig
by reducing Logical Drive F by same amount
C Drive was previously only 2 gig ( tho 32 bit ) which was totaly inadequate for reinstallinq Windows XP, anyway

You could have just deleted all your partitions when you installed Windows.
