Formating HDD

Hello

I am having certain issues with Linux which I will to solve by formating the Linux drive... I need to format the HDD with Linux from Windows XP... Is this possible straight from the Windows or do I need to use some software?

Which software do you recommande?
 
I use this. It works. Professionals in hdd formatting might disagree. Just download and burn to disc, set boot order to boot cd drive first and format whatever partition you need(usually ext2/3 for linux, fat32/ntfs for windows). You don't need an os to run this so it should work.
