Formating the hard disk and viruses

I just wanted to know these :

If my computer or laptop has many viruses and if I would "Factory Format/Reset" it, would all the viruses go away?

I have a laptop, HP Pavilion and I can "factory reset/format" it easily.
If I do that, will my laptop will be rid of viruses?

Also, what about if it's an external hard disk? I have a 500 GB one and there are viruses in it, if I could format it, would the viruses go away?

So it will work on both my laptop and hard disk?
Okay, I was thinking of formatting my HD

Now, I dont want to lose the data in the HD
so I should copy all my files to my laptop or another HD and then format it, is this correct?

What if the viruses comes along with the files i dont want to lose?

Start with the operating system on the laptop and then use malwarebytes to scan the external hard drive. No need to format the extrenal hard drive.

I have KasperSky installed, I bet I can scan for viruses with it. I'm not so sure KS is up for the job. Do you know any other or better virus cleaners?

I also have Game install files which the KS may take as "virus" or "dangerous things"

If you are torrenting games and other things along with key gens then that is your problem. Is this why you feel you are infected?

Nope, I dont fear the files that are from games. I am only afraid of other viruses, for example I see hidden folders that I think are viruses.

They are hidden folders that I have not created and contain small files that I dont know of.

I will upload a screenshot here to let you guys know what they look like exactly.

Those are caused when the disk is accessed by a Mac. Mac's create those directories and files because that's how the Mac OS operating system works. You can safely just delete them. But they'll just reappear if accessed by a Mac again.

Damn, really? I dont remember when my HD was accessed by a Mac but I deleted them.

The virus folder is actually a virus I think bec I cannot delete it :(
