Hi all
Frustrated or what?!
Last week I bought Fallout 3 (great game btw) and my pc was slow. I bought a new MSI P45 Neo3 mobo, a 8400 Duo chip and 4gb of ddr2 ram and am sticking with my 8800 gts for the mo.. tried to format my Raptor with my Win XP disc but it kept going to blue screen before even gettting to the format.. I managaed to use an old drive to get up & running then formatted the Raptor from within windows but I still cannot get XP onto it!!! Apparently new mobo's need Xp SP2 as a minimum to format them...!
Is this true?? Sounds unbelievable!!
Do I have to buy a Windows XP SP2 or late or even Vista disc to format?
Please help
I am struggling
Thanks
Jelboy

For one you could be seeing a hardware issue like bad or mismatched memory if the Raptor is not seeing bad write heads. You might want to temporarily remove one of the two 2gb dimms since that is often recommended even with the 64bit editions of Vista when installation problems are seen.

Besides the installation disk or Disk Management tool in Windows a 3rd party drive tool is often the choice. Partition Magic(retail) or the free Linux tool GParted or the Gnome Partition Editor will easily reformat or even remove the present for a totally fresh primary for Windows to go on. The first thing however once the drive is reformatted is trying to see XP go on with only one of the pair in until Windows is up and running.
