I want to send off my resume to employers, but a lady who is helping me with it said when she opened it on the word document it came out all strange, with the words all over the place I guess is what she meant. Anyway, she said I need to re-format it. How do I do that? I am sending another copy in PDF format, but need a word one as well.

i had the same problem when emailing word docs, if you are using word 2007 or 2010, try saving the document as 97 to 2003 format, that way if you email it to someone with an old version it should be fine.
To add to jamesd1981's comments, there have been similar posts recently. Older versions of Word will not open documents created with the latest versions of Word. You can get an MS Office Compatibility Pack for older versions but folk getting your resume may not be impressed having to do that!
Prior to my last post I tried sending a Word document to myself (via SMTP and POP3). I didn't see any changes.
I assume that you've printed it out for yourself and it's OK. You could ask the lady to provide a screenshot of what the document looks like for her or get a much more detailed description. If it is some sort of formatting problem you can't do much without that. It's like taking your car into the shop and saying "It doesn't work".
Did you use any complicated formatting such as columns, tables?
You could read the Word Help for "attachment". I could not see anything that stood out, other than when attaching HTML to email.

Word is an English version, but some of the characters in the size section are in Chinese. The first sizes are in Chinese then as you scroll down the usual English numbers are there.
Ok so I went to format- then reveal format this showed that the language was Chinese and Portuguese (what?). The default font was Times New Romannd below that Asian MS Mincho. So is it from reveal format that I change the format, how do i do that? Basically, what i am asking is what in the format section do i play around with?
Ok went to the drop down box changed it from rich text format to the bottom choice- Word 2003-1997 sent it to myself and it seemed to come out ok. Is sending it to yourself a good check?

You should have taken note of jamesd1981's first response! RTF is not the normal format you would use for "proper" documents. If "your" lady was experienced, she should have figured that out too.
Formatting problems due to font can be quickly found by clicking somewhere on the problem paragraphs and checking font (on the main toolbar). To reformat a problem paragraph(s), select the text and then the font you want. If the layout (eg table, columns) is not as you expected, that may be more difficult. The tab markers can be very confusing.
Sending a document to yourself is most useful to quickly check outgoing and incoming mail are working OK. In this instance, the incoming document may have appeared different if the original attachment was in html format as I noted in my last post.
