formatting

I was wondering if any one could provide me info about low-level formatting, and any good software....well, freeware to do so...

There are as far as I know 2 types of format, Quick and Complete. I never heard of low level.

I don’t know of any that are free and worth using, considering it’s not exactly a simple task.

The only time I reformat is to throw ALL the trash out.

The link provided clearly states that:

it is not possible to low level the drive outside the factory

So I take it that you can't. Why wont you just format with the XP disk? This, assuming you mean your whole hdd. Not disks or anything.
