Former hard drive use?

I just installed a re-formated SSD into my computer and did a fresh install of Windows 10. I was advised to disconnect the existing regular hard drive during this process. Now that I am up and running on the SSD, can I plug that drive back in, delete the Windows operation system that is on it and use the drive for storage? If so, please explain how or is as simple as just plugging it in and starting the computer? Do I have to worry about deleting Windows on that drive? Thank you in advance.

Just connect it, delete all partitions, then re-partition and format it. You'll end up with a fresh disk to use. If there is data on it you wish to keep, copy it to another drive before dropping the partitions. Copy the data back after formatting.
