Foxconn mobo PCIe x16 @ x8 speed?

I believe the x16 slot on my mobo runs at x8 speed electronically, how does this effect my 7600GT?

My 3Dmark06 scores just under 4000 slightly OC'd...

Should I be looking for a new mobo? ..one that supports x16 @ x16 speeds?

How does this effect gaming?

Confirmed, it is x8 speed...

I'm also a little confused as to why it says there's so much memory for the card? ... it's a 256MB card and onboard video is disabled, Windows even shows that I have 2047MB available for the system now.

Yea that board is pretty low end so a better board would not hurt, but between X8 and X16 on the PCIe slot with a 7600GT I dont think it would make much difference.

Yeah i don't think you would be able to tell the difference. But it wouldn't hurt upgrading to a nforce 570 or 590 :D

Define 'much difference'..

..and a little info on the 'shared system memory' portion of this thread would be nice. Why would my board 'share' system memory with a card that doesn't support sharing system memory?

Have read its somwhere its between 0 and 6% but would increase some the better the card say like a 8800GTS. The 7600GT just doesnt use all the bandwidth of a 16X slot. If it didnt do it auto you might have to go into the bios and disable your onboard video.

I disabled the onboard video through the BIOS when I installed the 7600GT, which is why I'm so confused..

Just saw where you did the edit, Shared system memory I dont think is your onboard, it has 0 for your Shared Video memory. I dont even think you could set the onboard for 767mb.

Think shared Systems memory is like the old AGP aperture size you could set in the bios. it holds a certian amount of memory if not used for helping in textures if the cards ram runs low and it only holds it if the systems not using it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that doesn't apply to boards without AGP.

My board has;

1- x1 PCIe
1- x16 PCIe
2- PCI

Hi,

Because your 7600GT normally runs at a speed of 16x it will get hot and eventually it will get destroyed. And don't forget, it will show spots on your screen. As for speed, indeed you won't really notice a difference, but there is one.

Do you want a recommendation? Buy an other motherboard. I would have done that...

I don't know about all that.. but if it's true, I do have a new case on the way which has a 25cm (7.5") fan built into the side of it, which will blow cool air directly at both the CPU and GPU.

I do plan to buy a new mobo, but right now I'm short on loot.. maybe soon, next paycheck? idk..

Thanks for the help so far, and more opinions are welcomed :D

It is true. It is been told by some pro's AND I have experienced it twice. That's how I destroyed mine TI4200 and FX5200 :)

I have little doubt, but since my temps are low and my new case will have such a ginourmous fan on the side panel, I'm not entirely worried about it.

Thats one of the wildest thing I,ve ever heard! Where did you come up with that? You do know that nForce 4 and 570 boards both in SLI runs all cards at X8. So I guess my cards and alot of other peoples are being destoryed! Thats not true.

What do I care what you believe or not:confused:I still remember the day I had mine TI4200 and first tested in a mobo with AGP8x and it ran smoothly and very cool. But then I had put it in my AGP4x mobo it went hot.

Why should I make up stuff? What's the point of it?
