this is my second build, my first build was w/ an antec 900, so easy to work w/

this one is for my grandpa for under his desk it is a micro atx case (the foxconn tw001) and i cant figure out how to mount the cd and floppy drives, i just know im going to feel like an idiot when i finally get it and realize how simple it was but for now im stumped

any suggestions

Surely pull off the dvd/cd front panel and slide in the drive although some cases do require you pull the front facia off

What make and model case is this? You may not have to take the front panel off in order to see the drives simply slide the optical drive in but simply remove the drive bay cover. For a floppy drive opening the case up is very much the standard task since that slides forward upto the face plate in order to lineup with the opening there.

A good number of mini tower and compact cases can be seen at http://www.xoxide.com/small-form-factor-cases.html Does any of them look close to what you have there?

Looks like all you need to do is removes the fill in black drive slot cover. Then there might be a metal grid covering the slot, if so remove that. After that just slid the drive in and put 2 mounting screws on each side and make sure its lined up even in the front.

If there's a metal filler in any of the drive bays you simply give those a twist in order to break the tab at each end. The floppy bays on that case are wide open in the front unlike many others seeing only the slot for the 3 1/2 to slide in thru. But you will still need to take the side covers off regardless in order to fasten the drives inplace.

Newegg has a good set of photos like the sideview seen at http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowImage.aspx?CurImage=11-153-088-11.jpg&Image=11-153-088-04.jpg%2c11-153-088-05.jpg%2c11-153-088-06.jpg%2c11-153-088-07.jpg%2c11-153-088-08.jpg%2c11-153-088-09.jpg%2c11-153-088-11.jpg%2c11-153-088-12.jpg%2c11-153-088-13.jpg%2c11-153-088-14.jpg%2c11-153-088-16.jpg%2c11-153-088-17.jpg%2c11-153-088-18.jpg%2c11-153-088-03.jpg&S7ImageFlag=0&WaterMark=1&Item=N82E16811153088&Depa=1&Description=Foxconn+TW001-CN300C-HS+Black%2f+Silver+Computer+Case

The IN WIN mini towers look almost identical seeing the two floppy drive bays right above the single 3 1/2 for the hard drive. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowI...n=IN+WIN+IW-V605T2.J350BL+Black+Computer+Case

i have the front off and the side off, but the other side is built into the top and wont come off

there isnt a way to screw it down either, there arent holes that line up, there arent even holes, it has to have something to do w/ this quick release thing but i cant figure it out, it doesnt appear to do n e thing but hold the hard drive in place

Apparently that's what you are going to be stuck with then. That's what's called a throw together case where you simply slap the drives in and forget about them.

One of the older cases here saw that with the AGP and pci slots where plastic tabs slid down to retain any cards installed. At least you could still drop in a fastener for each card however with those being more of a nuisance then anything else.

yea, i can set the drives in the lower of the two slots for each of the sizes, but really, is that what you do? just set them there to rest but not really be mounted?

I think you just push that black, what looks like a locking contraption foward. And it should lock the drives in place. There should have been a manual with the case.
