what increases fps in a game, the GPU or the CPU, just wondering if you had a low fps in a game (battlefield 2 in particular) would you upgrade the GPU or CPU, or would it be both

(i know someones going to ask so i may as well spill but i have an athlon xp 2000+ cpu and a geforce fx 5200 gpu LOL i know)

Both, depending on the game which one the most. Your pretty much going to have to update you whole computer. A old Socket A/465 XP Athlon is pretty much out dated.

yeh i get that i really do but at the moment i am skint and would just like to up the fps a bit, its bareable and playable but which (for the timebeing until i can afford an upgrad, got one in mind already) can i upgrade for little cost just to bump it up a tad

Yea, just upgrade the gpu that will be your best bet. I'd imagine it is an AGP slot, dont go to crazy or you will most likely need a new PSU too.

hmm is the 6600gt a good upgrade ( i dont mean immensley good)

and as for psu could some one reccomend a very cheap, used on i could get off ebay or something

Upgrading to a better AGP card running a socket A with a Athlon XP 2000. Waste of money and time. Better off saving his money up and upgrading the whole computer.

Could not agree more with this. For the sake of being barely able to play still in the short term, it isn't worth it, you are better of saving and getting a decent system in the long term
