Framerate drop

I set all my settings to high for games like Fallout 3 and Oblivion but sometimes I get a framerate drop (anywhere from 5 fps to 20 fps. oh and if you're wondering I get in between 45 and 70 fps for fallout3 and oblivion) and my games gets all jittery so Im wondering if anyone has a solution for this problem without lowering my settings? (system specs are in sig)

Hmm. I don't really see where you are lacking. I am wondering what you're using to test FPS though.

As long as your fps aren't going below 30 then you shouldn't have a problem. I say those fps are pretty good for the 3870.

Could be your HDD loading stuff... that usually causes jitters.

Yea it's pretty common when there is a lot going to in a game. When I play NFS Shift if I hit a wall or another car my fps drops from 40 to 20. If they where always below 30 then you should suspect something. With a low end card like the 3870 or even my 4850 it's pretty often.
